We strayed onto the topic of quantum physics this evening, attempting as ever to 'eff the ineffable'... I mentioned a video I'd found useful, so here's the link:
The Infinite Monkey Cage, BBC Radio 4, of 23rd July 2012, available on BBC iplayer - Higgs Bosons disappeared leaving behind Higgs Fields at Symmetry Breaking (when Weak and Strong Forces 'split off'), at least that's how I interpret what was said - this is a comedy program where some scientists can't resist getting serious from time to time.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Lorna... link is bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/timc for anyone interested, can be downloaded now, but not sure how long they last for.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alasdair. 30 minutes including quite a lot of laughter.
DeleteHave downloaded it now, will listen to it... at some stage! I notice that these are listed as being indefinitely available, which is good!
